Ballad that exceeds!

January 10th, 2008

Check out an excerpt from Peggy’s Ballad………

Across the lands so faraway,

The great crusaders went,

Surviving hardships day by day,

Shining armor with no dent.

Though in their thoughts, their clever minds,

Evil scenes began to flood,

As they saw themselves slay down mankind,

Wade in a river of blood.

They saw themselves slay down mankind. WOW!!! The imagery Peggy brought to this ballad is amazing! Read the rest here. I know that a lot of your ballads have excelled and there are a surprised faces. I knew you could do it. Congratulations I look forward to reading all of them. And the image is supposed to be a river of blood…….I know, I know…..no comments about how bad the picture is.

A homework task for the start of next week will be for you to post a comment on at least 3 classmates blogs telling them what you thought…..remember 7th grade…… constructive criticism only!!!!!

And……Don’t forget your homework due Monday!

Writing Ballads

January 8th, 2008

There are twelve months in all the year,
As I hear many men say,
But the merriest month in all the year
Is the merry month of May.

Today’s class we will be looking at the ballad robin-hood-and-the-widow’s son-poem.doc

Review the poem and jot some notes down about: the look of the Ballad, the style, the words, What do you notice about this ballad? Let’s read one stanza each aloud and see where we get to with it. If there are words you don’t understand or want to question, jot these down too, for class discussion.

Once we are all clear on the style of a ballad here is our task worksheet.doc

Please make sure once you complete your ballad that you review the rubric-ballad.doc

Goodluck me Ladies and Gentlemen!!!!!

Along with posting your ballad on your blog, please submit a hard copy with section 1 & 2 questions on Monday January 14.
